James: Faith that Works (Week 1)

Preview Question:
Getting is shape is simple: Think about a time when you have been in great shape physically. How does this compare and contrast to being in great shape spiritually?

Scripture Passage:
Read James 1:1-18

Discussion Questions
  1. How do you respond to the idea that we should "consider it pure joy" whenever we face trials of many kinds?
  2. What difficult experiences have increased your perseverance and maturity? In what way did they have an impact?
  3. In the context of trials and perseverance, why do you think James contrasted rich and poor Christians?
  4. What is the difference between temptations and trials? What role does good play when we face trials and when we face temptations?

After the study:

One of the best ways to celebrate God's dependability is to make a list of the times he has proven faithful. Make that list and praise him for it this week.
