Philippians - Introduction

As we kick off our study of Philippians this week, I encourage you to read the introduction to the letter in your study bible. You can also follow the link below to an introduction online:

It is always important to understand the background (e.g. people, place, time, why, what, were) for the passage and a good study bible or bible dictionary will help a great deal with that. In addition, I want you to read the whole letter through in one sitting.

For our meeting this week, I want you to come prepared with 1 or 2 things you learned about Paul's letter to the Philippians in your background review and 1 or 2 verses or passages from the letter that stood out for you in your initial reading. This will be an important meeting to set the stage for our more in depth study of the letter over the next 7 weeks.
