This week we will introduce the book we will be studying for the next 8 weeks. Our first reading assignment will be for Friday December 18, so plan on getting your book this week if you can. The book can be ordered from Amazon - we will be using the revised version from 1999.
Though 10 years old, the book and its Promises will challenge us in the coming weeks. Below is an overview of the promises we will be discussing and some opening questions for you to consider for this week's meeting:
- A PK is committed to honoring Jesus Christ through worship, prayer and obedience to God's Word in the power of the Holy Spirit
- A PK is committed to pursuing vital relationships with a few other men, understanding that he needs brothers to help him keep his promises
- A PK is committed to practicing spiritual, moral, ethical and sexual purity
- A PK is committed to building strong marriages and families through love, protection and biblical values
- A PK is committed to supporting the mission of his church by honoring and praying for his pastor, and by actively giving his time and resources
- A PK is committed to reaching beyond any racial and denominational barriers to demonstrate the power of biblical unity
- A PK is committed to influencing his world, being obedient to the Great Commandment and the Great Commission
Discussion Questions:
- What comes to your mind when you think of someone who keeps a promise? What value does our society place on someone who keeps their word? What value does God place on such a person? Can you explain the difference?
- What promise strikes you as most important for you to learn more about at this point in your journey of faith?
- Just looking through the promises, are there any areas in your life where you believe that God is calling you to be a stronger influence for his purposes?
- What else do you hope to get our of this study?
